Proper Acne Skin Care Can Help Reduce Outbreaks

People who are prone to acne can help reduce the incidence of breakouts by practicing proper acne skin care on a daily basis. While some causes of acne, such as hormonal changes may not react favorably to acne skin care, the vast majority of acne sufferers can benefit from taking a common sense approach to preventing the problem from surfacing.

One of the most effective ways to reduce the incidences of acne outbreaks is to keep the skin areas most prone to acne clean. Gently washing in the morning and again in the evening with a gentle soap can be the most effective acne skin care that can be done easily. Heavy scrubbing is not necessary and may actually cause other problems by drying out the skin and removing oils essential for healthy skin. Washing should be from the chin, working upwards and then rinsing thoroughly.

It is also recommended that persons with oily skin acne skin care may require possibly cleaning the areas a third time throughout the day. Washing the hair is also recommended as oil from the hair can help bacteria find its way to skin on the face and neck. Those with oily hair should consider shampooing daily to prevent oily build up.

Taking Care Of Skin And Problem Areas

Those who are prone to acne should avoid sun tanning as well as spending time in tanning beds. While a suntan can darken the skin, hiding the blemishes and make the skin feel drier, it is only temporary. Some may feel this is beneficial acne skin care, but dermatologists remind people that tanning or sunburn can cause premature aging of the skin as well as being a potential for skin cancer.

For men with acne, shaving can be a problem and for those who cannot use an electric razor, shaving with a blade must be done with extreme caution. The blade should be sharp and clean, shaving should be done lightly, avoiding acne blemishes, and shaving should only be done as needed. Practicing good acne skin care can also prevent infection if the blade causes a nick in the skin. A dirty blade can place bacteria into an open cut, causing an infection.

While using appropriate acne skin care may not completely eliminate acne breakouts, it will help it clear up quicker and may reduce the strength and duration of the blemishes. A completely clear complexion may not be possible for everyone, as hormonal changes will take charge in spite of the acne skin care methods being used. But reducing the incidence can make a difference in the personal appearance of everyone.
